I asked the same thing. I guess construction hasn't started yet at CMB. Everyone is saying Q4 of this year construction will begin.

The project is to be funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) which had also assisted in the construction of the initial phase. The agreement had already been signed and work is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2014. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2016; however, provisions have been made to open a part of the new compound by the end of 2015

I saw a recent video on youtube that shows SriLankan catering building being reconsturcted at CMB. If I can recall it correctly, there was a plan SriLankan catering building to be reconstructed as a Domestic terminal.

Looking at the plan of new terminal, is constructions to be started, certain remote gates may have to be temporary shift to different location. Simple terms you need to have few more remote bays( parking areas ). Anybody from BIA could comment on this.

They have demolished the "Aviation Spectators Gallery" but the construction work not been started yet.

Colombo Airport is getting very busy. New Terminal is desperately needed.

BIA Phase 2 to kick off in July 2015 Total of 42 passenger boarding bridges in three years.

Not sure why it has to take 6 months before construction begins? I was under the impression everything was in place for construction to begin straight after the Japanese pres. officially launched the project.
