Another rumour : 3 x A330-200s (ALA,ALB,ALC) are going to retire from UL fleet beginning of 2017 and they are planning sub-lease 3 x A330-300s (ALL,ALM,ALN) to other operator.

Even if they take the delivery of MSN55 & MSN60 this year they can't continue CDG & FRA with only 9 Widebody Fleet. 3 x A330-200s (ALD,ALH,ALJ) and 4 x A330-300s (ALO,ALP,ALQ,ALR) are going remain in the UL fleet. Before It was expected the delivery of MSN171 to UL in end of 2017.
Finding aircraft to serve CDG and FRA is no longer an issue. http://colombogazette.com/2016/06/27...and-frankfurt/. UL will very soon go back to the pre Emirates widebody fleet size....

Yes Sri Lankan is stopping these flights. The last flights between Frankfurt and Colombo (UL 553/554) will be operated on October 30, while UL 563/564 of November 6, 2016

Good sign, then if no lessor, SriLankan might take the A350, most probably?

There have been recent reports on a decision made by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Management whereby, the Ground Handling operations at BIA, Katunayake, handled by SriLankan Airlines is to be transferred to Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited.

I have been informed by the Hon. Prime Minister today, that the modalities of the above should be as follows :

                    1) A new Company will be incorporated for Ground Handling.

                    2) All employees of SriLankan Airlines who are involved in ground and cargo handling at BIA, will be transferred to this new Company. Their remuneration, privileges, gratuity, other statutory payments and entitlements will be continued by the new Company.

                    3) All assets and liabilities (if any), in respect of ground handling, will be transferred to the new Company.

                    4) It is envisaged that Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited will take up part of the equity in the new Company, which will result in a joint venture between AASL and SriLankan Airlines in ground handling operations in the future.

The Hon. Prime Minister has requested me to circulate this message to all members of staff to allay their fears and uncertainty of their future.

The Racketeers in action again. They are taking the profitable parts of the Airline and bringing them under their control so their Rackets can continue.

The final stage will be the shutdown of what is left of UL - the people of Sri Lanka will have to foot the bill.

Actually if the government retains the profitable ground handling unit whilst selling the loss making airline, its a good thing. That said I dont see anyone making a bid for UL without the ground handling unit. Ive heard rumours that Ground Handling and Catering generated the most profit even during the EK era.

                            • UL is planning to sublease ALL, ALM, ALN to PIA which was started bidding two months ago to acquire Widebody aircraft on wet-lease. I heard ALN didn't meet the delivery requirements of PIA but it's under consideration. It seems to be these 3 x A333s are to be wet-leased to PIA for short-term with ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintanance and Insurance). It looks like SriLankan is starting a leasing biz in the industry.

Does anybody know when ALL, ALM, ALN joining PIA fleet?
