Came back from BKK today. No ETOPS (probably cancelled maybe) is my guess, that's the reason it tracked over land. Bad time period for ANE. :/

I think you are correct, ANE is now airborne as UL207 to AUH and I think ETOPS is not required for most ME destinations

ETOPS only required when flying for more than 60 minutes flying time away from the nearest airport suitable for emergency landing. ME and Indian destinations do not require ETOPS.

    75/90min to ETOPS370 in A350XWB

There are 737s flying with ETOPS180 to Hawaii

Looks like ETOPS on all of UL's NEO fleet is affected. The most recent flights for 4R-ANB, ANC and AND were taking similar route to ANE while 4R-ANA has not done a flight over the Bay of Bengal over the past couple of days.

Yes, it varies from aircraft to aircraft..

Yes bro. Even today's UL404/405 flew over land to BKK. My father was operating this flight today, but it is also a disadvantage for the passengers and crew too, because the route is quite longer than usual = more time flying to and from BKK.

QR is scheduled to receive their 1st A350-1000 sometime this month, any chances of seeing one of them in CMB sometime this year considering the fact that Airbus advertise it as the replacement for A346 and QR probably will start retiring their A346s with the arrival of the A35K? They have already upgraded the DOH-MLE sector to A359 from the previous A333 service.

My guess would be QR might replace the existing A346 services with B773. A350-1000 might be used for Europe, Australia, Americas and Far East. Yield on the pax traffic to CMB still lower than MLE.

The passenger who flew on UL flight to Gan Island said there was only around 60 passengers were onboard on the A320.

It's almost the same like on UL828/829 to and from Kunming. That's the reason they are stopping it soon this month.

A friend flew on AI to MAA last evening on their Airbus A321.

Their overall service, quite particularly their food was outstanding even though they serve Veg. The crew was very good too and with the aircraft too being well maintained, which was pretty surprising in contrast to all the other reviews (mostly negative) about AI

Load factor was 100% on Y Class

Good to see AI doing well even on its other rotations from CMB to BOM and VNS.
Sadly 9W pulled out from the BLR-CMB sector due to IndiGo being way too much for them to handle

Has anyone here flown with Air India?

ok so, problems with CFM Leap engine??

PRATT & WHITNEY ENGINE ISSUES CONTINUE TO PLAGUE A320NEO CUSTOMERS
I wonder whether it is a common issue for both manufacturers?

While both engine types are having teething problems, I don't think the issues themselves are common across the types based on the article below although and I believe PW has had the bigger chunk of problems compared to CFM LEAP.

So he's suspended but no date has been given when this takes effect. Sounds like a typical Sri Lankan situation where nobody wants to do anything.

If any jounalists are reading along - it would be nice to clarify if Suren got his Rs 10 Million bonus.

This is the third commission looking into various aspects of UL if my memory is correct.

What's needed are arrests/criminal charges/prison sentences for most of the previous management and some of the present ones. Looks like all talk and no action to me. These people are protected at the highest levels of Government - that much is quite obvious.

There's a news blackout about anything to do with the lease contracts and the financial liabilities at UL. No talk about the shut down allowed either. Suppressing the truth will just make things even worse imho.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

Sad to hear about the political situation of the Maldives. Is it going to affect SriLankan Airlines? or is it advantage for Sri Lanka Tourism ? Any possibilities the foreign airlines that serve MLE switch the flight operation to CMB to transport the holiday makers who like to visit beaches.

I noticed something SriLankan Airlines Neo Aircraft A320orA321 neo it takes longer to fly to Hkg they use the land router when crossing Bay of Bengal, but the old A320 such as 4R-ABP flies through ocean directly which takes 5:15 mins where neo takes 5:55 or6hours

No ETOPS for all the NEO aircraft in the UL Fleet after the UL892 incident. Other aircraft in the A320 family have ETOPS.

Unhappy Airbus halts some deliveries, tests after engine snag

Airbus () has stopped delivering A320neo jets powered by Pratt & Whitneys () geared turbofan engines and halted pre-delivery test flights after the latest technical hitch to affect the supplier, two sources familiar with the matter said.

A European safety bulletin, effectively grounding aircraft that have already been delivered with two engines from the same suspect batch, affects about 15-20 aircraft already in service,, they said.

Airbus has briefed airlines and leasing companies on the problem and cannot yet say how long it will take to resolve, one of the sources told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

An Airbus spokesman said the planemaker is in discussions with customers about delivery schedules.
