            In most leasing agreement sub lease is part of the agreement. I dunno how previous UL mgmt sign the lease agreement with Aercap. My only worry is if this lease agreement has a guarantor...if there is a guarantor then Aercap would not be much flexible...coz Aercap will go after the guarantor in case UL fails.

            To Sublease...all 3 partners need to agree.

            The sublessee is subject to the same lease terms & payment that the original lessee was subject to

            Aercap will agree...they need someone to pay the full lease payments
            UL well they want some one to pick up the lease payment as per the terms of agreement with Aercap
            The most difficult part is...if TK would agree for the lease terms (which UL agreed with Aercap) and for the least payment (& what payment terms UL agreed with Aercap)

                Yes, if the aircraft are going to be leased to TK, they will probably get the TK livery. Unless it is just for a short time.

                  Knowing how things work at UL - they are paying too much for the leases (was also mentioned in the Sunday Times article). Whether this is just incompetence or whether someone is getting kickbacks is anyone's guess (either is possible).

                  Turkish is run like a Business - they will not pay what UL is paying to lease these aircraft. The issue is whether Aercap will renegotiate an already signed deal or whether UL will have to pay the difference.

                  These A350's are the final nail in the UL coffin - these orders will finish off UL imho.

                  No matter what happens the Sri Lankan people get screwed (again).
                  Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

                    That may be true...UL would have negotiated a premium lease payment. As you said previously culture of impunity is very much embedded inside Sri Lankan Gov. and its institutions. Even if you caught the guy with his hand in the cookie jar; he or she would deny that is someone else or political victimisation...this is normal who ever is governing Sri Lanka since independence

                    What UL could offer TK is that UL would give reduced or free ground handling to TK in CMB (UL charges exorbitant ground handling charges in CMB).

                      Word has reached me that Saliyah is no longer at Qatar - what are the odds that he shows up as another appointee at UL in the next few weeks? 100% imho.

                            I agree with you. These ''talks'' involving foreign airlines have been going on for more than a year now. No airline will make any sort of investment in UL unless drastic changes are made. And since the unions are as dirty as the employs they represent, the chances of this happening are almost zero. The government will just have to keep on sinking more money into UL

                              The best option at the moment IMHO is UL given as equity to the Chinese (provided they want to touch it) to try and turn around. Currently the government is desperate with the financial crunch and wants to offer Chinese firms equities in state enterprises according to http://www.news.com.au/finance/busin...414cbdede120da.

                              I am not familiar if any Chinese airline have any significant stake or investment on foreign airlines or their track record in airline investments\partnerships unless someone in the forum is familiar?

                              This would be the ideal opportunity to at least turn around some troublesome state enterprises; any successive SL government is not going to make any difference.

                                Agree with you on this. IMHO if at all QR puts money in, it will be in a new debt free joint venture airline, not the current UL company which is saddled with debt. Wonder what would happen if the government offered two or 3 airline licences without foreign ownership restrictions.
