UL have to change the management from top to bottom.

According to Sunday times, UL is seeking for foreign airline assistance for capital/management support. The result will come up in two/three months , trade minister senasinghe said.

Doesn't seem to be a rush to change any Management. I guess the systematic and deliberate looting of the Airline will continue.

Ajith Dias and his pack of appointed Jokers and Clowns are still in place as are the totally useless Board of Directors.

HHR Pradeepa K and former COO Druvi P are both still employed. They both belong in prison imho. I've personally provided the Weliamuna Commission with letters and e-mails that prove both of them guilty of flagrant abuse of power.

As for foreign Airline assistance - that's already been tried. Tamasek/Qatar/Emirates all wisely decided to stay away.

Nobody will touch UL imho - toxic!

No benefit for any Airline to get involved with UL - why take on several Billion in future liabilities?

Not to mention the corruption and incompetence at all levels within the Airline.

Or the culture of impunity and zero accountability that continues despite numerous reports.

Any takers for Ajith Dias and his pack of appointed Jokers and Clowns? I don't think so - none of them are qualified to hold their positions.

Far cheaper for another Airline to set up their own subsidiary if they want to have a CMB base after UL collapses.

The real tragedy is that all of this could have been avoided - too late now!

          • Does someone know what configuration UL's A350s will have? We still don't have any clue about this.

            Regards,

There are some speculations that these would be sub leased to TK

              • Pretty interesting (and disturbing) article about flight safety issues and how they were not handled appropriately by Civil Aviation Authority, today on Colombo Telegraph.

                A few of the highlights:

                1. Capt. Druvi Perera (Sri Lankan Airlines) on landing into Chennai (India) the aircraft under his control skidded way off the runway damaging the runway lights. He continued to taxi to the parking bay. This was hushed up by the CAA of Sri Lanka. However subsequently he was promoted to the post of Chief Operations Officer. As the Chief Operations Officer he instructed the pilot training managers Capt. Ranga Amadoru and Capt. Patrick Fernando to reduce the pass mark in order to recruit two cadet pilots who had failed their exams. Both Capt. Amadoru and Capt. Fernando resigned from their posts as they refused to comply with Capt.Druvi Perera’s orders. This is highlighted in the Weliamuna/Jayaratne Board of Inquiry report.

                2. Capt. Keminda Yahampath (Sri Lankan Airlines) – Burst several tires of the aircraft due to an unsafe landing into Trivandrum. What was more dangerous was that he taxied with burst tires to the parking bay. Miraculously a catastrophic situation was averted despite continuing to taxi on shredded tires and just on bare steel rims, where the slightest of friction could have had the aircraft in a ball of flames. He was subsequently promoted and currently is the Manager Flight /Ground Safety of SriLankan Airlines and also of Mihin Lanka since 21st May 2015. This was after the orchestrated removal of Capt.Sirimanne from the post. He was instrumental in providing an inaccurate proposal to gloss and facilitate the illegal operation to Seychelles when the weather is below safety requirements. He proved that he does not have the basic knowledge on this subject.

                7. Capt. Gajendra Wagh (Mihin Lanka) – Was found fast asleep at the controls of his flight after the co-pilot Subki Lafir had to use the cockpit re-entry emergency override switch to gain access into to the flight deck. This was after the co-pilot Lafir had gone to the toilet and found himself locked out of the cockpit. Capt.Wagh was sacked immediately after this incident. In fact he was on a warning for a similar lapse recorded earlier. With no one to be blamed for this incident, the onus fell on co-pilot Subki Lafir who was reported to have been harassed to the point of him resigning. He joined a far eastern airline after it was he who brought the situation under control in flight.

Very sad! So what's going to happen when they retire four A332s this year? Will they look for younger A332s?

UL was planning to fit 338 seats on those A350s.

Sublease is a speculation; I think UL will get the 3 from AerCap...but again they are still negotiating...UL Management or GOSL does not know what do

"It was noted that the SriLankan office in Rome was being closed down from May 1. The closure of offices in Frankfurt and Paris was also under consideration but no decision has been taken. Informal soundings have also been made to offer the four Airbus A 350s already contracted with the manufacturer to be given to Turkish Airlines possibly on lease."

Hopes of agreement before April 10 as PM goes to China with top ministers, appeal likely to write off loans Tax chief’s circular on new rates withdrawn,

As an aviation enthusiast I'm so embarrassed about those incidents!! What happened to the professionality??

Well then once the F-WZFA aircraft undergoes paint phase, the manufacturer will apply the Turkish Airlines livery including the already painted (in UL Livery) vertical stabilizer right?

Nice examples of the culture of impunity and zero accountability that exists.

Under such a system you will have nothing but abuse by those at the top as they know they can do whatever they want without ever having to answer for it.

I'm a victim of this. I have an e-mail from Druvi Perera where he justifies his treatment of me as being in the "National Interest". As if I'm some sort of enemy of the state! - truely absurd - but these are the things that happen.

Ajit Dias, a garment exporter, who runs a string of coffee shops in Colombo....
He's in charge? Good luck with that!

H.M.C.Nimalasiri is also part of the problem imho. If he can't do his job due to political interference he should resign imho. So far he seems happy to collect his salary and benefits just like the rest of them.

The incidents listed are just the tip of the iceberg. There are a lot more that are not listed on the CAA website and have been deliberately covered up.

One example:- Incorrectly handled fuel leak on an A330 over the Bay of Bengal. If they had been further away from Colombo they would have run out of fuel and a hull loss would have resulted. Someone want to ask H.M.C.Nimalasiri why this was covered up?

I doubt ICAO will do much more than give them a slap on the wrist. A downgrading might actually force some changes.

The first step forward has to be addressing the culture of impunity. There has to be accountabilty - no-one is above the law.

That Sunday Times news says UL may lease 4 x A350s to Turkish Airlines. Those 4 x A350s were contracted as part of purchase agreement for direct order with Airbus and these birds were expected to be delivered to UL after 2018.

I certainly sure UL will be taking delivery of 3 x A350 from Aercap this year/early next year as already planned.

Yes, that news is true. There is a 70% chance of us not getting A350 aircraft.
