Mihin Lanka is worth like one rupee but still get deliveries of new aircrafts!! Seriously ??

Its actually ordered by the MR's gov who initially placed an order for two new B737 for Mihin with ALC in May 2014 : http://www.airleasecorp.com/press/ca...stomers?page=3.

Later the gov changed the B737 order to two A320neos : http://www.sundaytimes.lk/150222/new...ad-137011.html

How is that any different than UL?

Why don't people understand? New aircraft orders have nothing to do with Airline requirements - it's just another way to transfer public funds to family, friends and cronies. Not to mention millions of dollars in commissions.

Stupid Sri Lankan tax payers are on the hook for several Billion dollars.

Nothing but fraud and theft - no investigations and no accountability.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

It's good that they have realized it.And also how about operating like below.

            NRT - Daily Non Stop
            PEK - Daily Non Stop
            PVG - Daily Non Stop
            CAN - Daily Non Stop

            • Yeah...... I think it will be a good move if they can start daily flights to those cities.. They should also try to capitalize more on the mainland China and start services to TPE, KIX........ etc. Since UL is now using brand new A330s, we need to focus more on the premium passengers. Unless you maintain the front cabin capacity over 80%, its difficult to increase the profit margins. We better act swiftly before the other airlines from the region, actually, we are already little late I think.

              • SriLankan Airlines expects late delivery of A350 Airbus’ due to financial crisis

Debt-ridden SriLankan Airlines, bidding farewell to its last and the oldest A340-300 aircraft which has been in operation for more than two decades in the fleet, says it is delaying the delivery of an order of eight A350-900 aircrafts from Airbus until its acute financial position is sorted out. In view of the financial situation, the delivery of the eight A350-900 aircrafts will take longer than planned,

I thought UL have ordered seven A350 not eight because they are leasing three A350 on lease from Aercap and four A350 on direct order from Airbus. If Iam not mistaken UL will be taking delivery of UL#3 (A350/MSN60) in early 2017 may be they will delay UL#1 & #2 (MSN52/55) until late 2017. Still MSN52/55 not spotted in TLS assembly line yet.

Osaka (KIX) is a very low yielding market wont work unless it is tagged to someother station and flown. TPE, UL intended to launch TPE in the 1980, TPE schedules were printed on the timetables that came out as well. Mainland China protested and were very indignant that UL and Sri Lanka considered the route and destination as relationships between China and Taipei were hostile.

If we fly KIX, UL must connect that flight with MLE. I remember we used to have a flight from NRT which was coming via MLE. MLE is one of the most popular tourist destination in Japan. TPE of course need to be timed with Indian and KHI flights.

I wonder what was the medicine...it is definitely not the Jet Fuel
There is a rumour among UL staff that their company shares will soon be available on Colombo Stock Exchange. Is this another clue that the company will be privatize again? Anyway It s a good move if they can do so, but the fact remains who wants to buy UL?

They may extend the lease agreement for a couple of years. If they expect to shed their vanity routes, I don't think they need A350s in their fleet near future. Can somebody confirm whether UL summer sked 2016 has been uploaded or not.........
