OK. Do you know where ABM is right now ?
Any idea what is the current seat configuration on ABL ? Planespotters.net shows previously MSN2345 had 158 (C8Y150) seats.
When ABL is starting its 1st schedule operation for UL ? to where ?

    • It still ponders me as to why they got a highly used 2345 instead of getting a newer plane in the MSN3000-4000 range. Maybe the lease wouldve been cheap? China Southern seems to have several other A320s it has returned to CIT. IMHO Mihin should get a few of them and expand to profitable routes whilst cutting down on inflight services (maybe give customers a bottle of water and some nuts to differentiate from other LCCs).

Embraer E-Jets are a series of narrow-body, twin-engine, medium-range, jet airliners produced by Embraer,
A Brazilian aerospace conglomerate that produces commercial, military & corporate aircrafts.

            • E190s won't work for MJ unless they expect to operate at least ten of the type. Too much overhead to add a new type without the relevant scale. Plus personally, I'd prefer having larger frames till it reaches a level where it can leverage its network without worrying about operational profitability. Plus, after all, E190s are in good demand and are not very cheap to lease.

                • India & Sri Lanka to increase flights. The Civil Aviation Ministry said that bilateral talks in this respect will begin next week. A request to increase flights between the two countries was made during the President’s last tour of India. The Ministry hopes that a profitable service can be provided by the Sri Lankan and Mihin Lanka Airlines.

In the meantime, the Sri Lankan tourism Development Authority said that the highest number of tourists during the first quarter of this year had arrived from India. It said that during the first three months, 37 thousand 476 tourists had come from India.

                    • India Sri Lanka Air Deal may include these proposals.

The new agreement may provide a massive boost in airline seat numbers represents a 50 percent rise in available seats on direct flights between the two countries by 2012.

The deal may include an offer of additional capacity within India to Sri Lanka’s carriers if they include stopovers in regional destinations.

For Sri Lanka’s carriers now serving India, that the agreement would allow them to fly beyond India to four additional destinations of their own choice.

The deal will boost Tourism in Sri Lanka

As far as i know UL has plans to re-instate flights to CCJ and HYD ... after the arrival of 6th A320, which is due to arrive by April 2011.

                              • Why on earth do they want to add CCJ?

The only international traffic out of CCJ is to the Gulf and there is more than enough capacity to every major point ithere. I hope UL has done enough homework before coming up to this decision.
