There are quite a few departures at that time TK, EY, WY, MU, QR, 9W...but my main concern is baggage handling...CMB baggage handling sucks specially in arrivals...belts can hardly manage a 747

Emirates, flydubai join forces with new agreement

    http://www.arabianbusiness.com/conte...-new-agreement

This has been in the pipeline for a while now and has finally been announced.

EK and FZ combined should be the second biggest operator in CMB next to UL (off the top of my head).

How will this affect CMB specifically and SL aviation in general?

Is Emirates A380 (EK654/655) on August 14th just oneoff flight or.. will they continue to operate at least week a flight
As of now this not in their (Emirates) schedule beyond 14/08/2017.

EK is in the habit of sending their A380 to airports that generally do not get A380 traffic (sometimes at the invitation of the airport, like they did with ORD last year to test the infrastructure readiness).

Somehow ORD ground crew managed to scrape the A380 on that instance.

This could be a similar attempt by EK to test the ability of CMB to handle the aircraft.

This does sound like a one off flight.

With the new EK and FZ partnership agreement, this idea is not as far fetched as it used to be. In early morning departure bank to DXB (between 2-3am) EK349 and FZ558 fly within an hour apart for instance and can be consolidated into an A388. Coincidentally, EK348/9 is actually DXB-CMB-SIN-CMB-DXB. Makes even more sense to upgrade.

How hellish CMB will be with all those souls landing at once is anybody's guess.

    Just now noticed this

"The one-off A380 aircraft will arrive at 16:10 hours and be on ground for more than six hours before it returns to Dubai as flight EK655 departing at 22:10 hours, enabling airport executives, VIPs, trade partners and media to enjoy a guided static tour of the double-decker aircraft."
