Sri Lanka's debt-ridden national carrier, SriLankan Airlines is planning to re-lease three aircraft of it's fleet, according to SriLankan Airlines.
An official of the airline has said that the management is in talks to wetlease three of the A330-300s aircraft to the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) as a part of the restructuring of the airline by the Ministry of Public Enterprice and Development.

Ukraine International Airlines, is the flag carrier and the largest airline of Ukraine, is going to launch the schedule flights to Sri Lanka Capital Colombo from the 5th November 2016. UIA will be serving Colombo in Winter 2016 and to continue it's Colombo services in Summer 2017. Previously the airline operated seasonal flights to Colombo during every Northern Winters. UIA becomes third the European airline to launch all season schedule flights to Colombo after termination of British Airways in March 2015. Currently Turkish Airlines is the only Europe based airline offering flights to Colombo via Male'.

Thomson Airways Limited is the world's largest charter airline, will be offering direct flights to Colombo from Gatwick, Stockholm and Helsinki for the Winter 2016 Season.
The service will be operated onboard brand new Boeing 787-800 & 900 Dreamliners, connecting more than 290 passengers to Sri Lanka Capital from above three European Destinations. Cabin Configuration of the Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner will have 47 Premium Economy Class seats and 244 Economy Class seats. The new, longer 787-9 aircraft will allow Thomson Airways to take more holidaymakers to these destinations with a capacity of 345, including 63 Premium Club seats.
Throughout the winter 2016 season, Thomson Airways will operate a once-weekly service on the Gatwick-Colombo route, departing from Colombo on Tuesdays and departing from Gatwick on Mondays. The first flight to Colombo is scheduled to depart on Monday,
